The Ground-up construction Process

1. Determine the plan

Easily the most important step in the ground-up construction process. Every division of our company is involved in this step to look at every aspect of your project. From sketches to city permits and material costs – we develop the foundation with you.

2. assemble the team

At this point, we build the team that will turn your dream into a reality. Engineers and architects, construction specialists and subcontractors, legal and municipal experts – we provide them all. And to most efficiently stay within budget, we’ll procure the best materials for the lowest price available.

3. Construction

This is the fun part. You will see firsthand the evolution of your ground-up construction project literally from the floor to the roof – and everything in-between. You are always welcome to visit the site or ask any questions of us (just give us a heads up so we can grab you a helmet).

4. punch walk and handover

A “punch walk” is the final walkthrough in any project. Our project manager will literally walk through every aspect of the completed job and determine with you what finishing touches are necessary. After that work is completed and you are satisfied with our work – your project is now a reality!

Frequently Asked Questions during the ground-up construction process

Ground-up construction, also known as “new build” or “new construction,” basically means a project starts with bare land and ends with a desired structure. Before a shovel enters the ground, our teams conduct feasibility studies, apply for and pull permits, provide architecture and design models, estimate project costs, determine a timeline, and execute the construction plan. You as a client are involved in this entire process as deep as you wish.

Yes, ground-up construction clients are not only welcomed to visit the job site during construction – they are encouraged to. This is YOUR project and we want you to be comfortable every step of the way. For safety and coordination purposes, we ask that all site visits be scheduled in advance with your project manager so we can ensure the visit does not interfere with ongoing work.

Yes. Our ground-up construction process is similar for residential and commercial clients. Although the projects may wildly different, our process is the same – and the outcome ends with success. We work with homeowners, businesses, property managers, and industrial facilities throughout the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas. Our team is equipped to handle large-scale mitigation, restoration, and renovation projects with minimal disruption as well.

We definitely do, but especially with ground-up construction, we will call in outside architects that will best align with your vision. Some architects are more suited for creative commercial facilities while others are best suited for high-end home and courtyard remodels. Our multitiered stable of architects is at your disposal to meet your project needs and budget.

It’s your ground-up construction project, so sure, but we just ask that you communicate this before you purchase materials such as doors, cabinets, windows, etc. so we can not only find you a less expensive option through our worldwide database of vendors, but also so that we can make sure the materials fit within the scope of your project. For instance, purchasing the wrong cabinets after a kitchen remodel is being constructed may push back the timeline because they are too wide or tall for the original design. Just communicate with us before you purchase anything and we’ll make it happen.
